The Music Society of Port Elizabeth will be treating us with an evening of splendor, as Italian pianist, Antonio Pompa-Baldi will perform on Tuesday, 22 May 2018. The concert will be held in the Nelson Mandela University South Campus Auditorium at 19h30. Tickets are R95, but R80 for pensioners, R40 for students and R35 for pupils.

Antonio had chosen to play the following works: Hummel Sonata Op. 13 in E flat, Five French songs of Poulenc and Edith Piaf, Poulenc Napoli Suite, Giuseppe Martucci Fantasia Op. 51, Medtner Sonata Tragic and Roberto Piana as well as improvisations on Neapolitan songs.

The pianist was born and raised in Foggia, Italy where he won the Cleveland International Piano Competition in 1999 and embarked on a career that continues to extend across five continents.

His extensive recording catalogue features 20 CDs and is constantly growing. A Steinway artist, Pompa-Baldi is on the piano faculty of the Cleveland Institute of Music and appears regularly at the world’s major concert venues, including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Paris’s Salle Pleyel, Milan’s Sala Verdi, Shanghai’s Grand Theatre and Boston Symphony Hall.
